What are the signs of the end of the world?

Many signs will precede the end of the world: wars, famines, pestilences, increased violence, etc. The Bible explains that many current events are a universal warning of the end and imminent return of Jesus Christ.

Jesus said inMatthew 24,Mark 13It isLuke 21that the signs of the end of the world are:

• False Christs and false prophets – many will say they are the Christ or prophets of Christ and will deceive many people

• Wars and rumors of wars – nations will come into conflict

• Famines and earthquakes – natural disasters will occur in several places

• Persecution of Christians – everyone will hate us and some will be killed

• Betrayal and rebellion – there will be divisions and fights even within families

• Hatred and evil – because of evil, the love of many will grow cold

• Preaching the gospel throughout the world – all nations will hear the gospel

• Suffering, instability and war in Israel – there will be death, sacrilege and destruction

• A great tribulation – a time of suffering such as the world has never seen before, but which will be shortened

• Signs in the sky – the sun and moon will stop shining and the stars will fall from the sky

• Roughness of the sea – people will be perplexed by its unusual agitation

• Fear and lamentation – because of misfortunes and judgment

And Jesus answering said unto them, Beware lest any man deceive you;For many will come in my name, saying, I am the Christ; and will deceive many.And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars; Look, don't be scared, because it all needs to happen, but it's not the end yet.For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.But all these things are the beginning of pain.Matthew 24:4-8

No one knows when the end will come, but these signs help us know when it is near. When we see some of these signs today, it should serve as a warning: the end could happen at any time. Therefore, it is important to be prepared, living in a way that pleases God (2 Peter 3:14).

Other signs of the end times

Some other passages in the Bible talk about signs that the end of times is near. These signs are:

• Apostasy – many people will abandon the faith presented by the Bible to follow false teachings –2 Thessalonians 2:3;1 Timothy 4:1

• The antichrist, or man of sin – will be a man used by Satan, who will exalt himself as God and deceive many; he will be destroyed by Jesus at his second coming –2 Thessalonians 2:4– see here: who is the antichrist?

• Wickedness and terrible times – people will indulge in all kinds of sin, rejecting God –2 Timothy 3:1-5

• Mockers – people will mock the gospel, rejecting God’s love and say that the coming of Jesus is a lie –2 Peter 3:3-4;2 Peter 3:9-10.

Are you prepared for the end?

In recent times, many people have been losing hope, faith and love. Jesus himself warned about these things and that the love of many would grow cold:

Because of the increase in wickedness, the love of many will grow cold...Matthew 24:12

Despite all the struggles in life, keep your hope in God and His Word. Do not allow anything to shake your faith in Jesus Christ. He is the Truth. Seek to know God with all your heart with perseverance, faith and sincere love.

But when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?Luke 18:8
