What does the Bible say about Jesus' return?
The Bible says that Jesus will return soon. Therefore, we need to be ready for when this happens. No one knows exactly when Jesus will return but we need to remain vigilant.
Jesus will return. The Bible says this clearly. And, when he returns, Jesus will judge humanity, destroy evil and give eternal life to the saved (Revelation 22:12). The return of Jesus will mark the end of the world.
For those who are saved, the return of Jesus is a reason for great hope! At that time, Jesus will establish justice and restore all things. The dead will rise and all the saved will be transformed to live eternally. There will be no more pain, death or sadness (Revelation 21:3-4).
When will Jesus return? How is it going to be?
No one knows when Jesus will return . Only God knows the date. No one can predict the day, because God has not revealed this information to anyone (Matthew 24:42-44). We need to be ready at all times, because Jesus can return at any moment.
The Bible says that when Jesus returns, it will be very clear. Jesus will return in the same way he ascended to Heaven: on a cloud. His return will be marked by the sound of a trumpet and an archangel (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). Jesus’ return will not be discreet!
Before Jesus returns, we will see several signs, which serve as a warning that the end is near. These signs cannot give us the exact date but they help us remember that Jesus will return soon. This way, we won't be caught off guard.
How can we prepare for Jesus’ return?
The Bible says we need to be prepared for when Jesus returns and gives us practical advice to prepare:
Live in a holy way
The main way to prepare for Jesus' return is by having faith and obeying him ! Those who are saved live differently, trying to be more like Jesus, doing good and rejecting sin. If we focus on doing God's will, we will have nothing to fear when Jesus returns and we will not be taken by surprise (2 Peter 3:14).
Stay tuned
It is often easy to forget that the end is near and become neglectful of the things of God. The signs of the end of the world serve to warn us that we need to be careful and correct our lives . We must remain sober and attentive to God's will (1 Thessalonians 5:6-9).
Build each other up
Together we are stronger! Alone we are much more vulnerable. We need our brothers in Christ to encourage one another and to keep us prepared for Jesus' return (1 Thessalonians 5:11). Together, we will be ready to welcome Jesus!
